Celebrating the Spirit of CISVA Elementary Track & Field 2025
The annual CISVA Elementary Schools Track & Field Championships are a highlight of the spring season, bringing together young athletes from across the Catholic Independent Schools of Vancouver Archdiocese for two inspiring days at Swangard Stadium34. This event is more than a competition—it's a celebration of perseverance, teamwork, and the joy of movement.
A Festival of Effort and Dedication
From the first practice in April, students in Grades 3 to 7 dedicate themselves to early morning runs, relay exchanges, and perfecting their jumps and throws5. Each athlete, whether sprinting 60 meters or giving their all in the shot put, demonstrates commitment and resilience. Coaches, teachers, and families play a vital role, supporting students as they learn the value of regular practice, personal responsibility, and showing up for their teammates5.
Events for Every Talent
The CISVA Track & Field meet offers a wide range of events, ensuring every student can find their moment to shine. Sprints, relays, long jump, high jump, discus, and shot put invite athletes to challenge themselves in different ways1. For some, it’s about shaving a second off a personal best; for others, it’s about mastering a new skill or supporting a relay team with a strong handoff.
Building Character Through Sport
Participation in track and field is not just about athletic achievement—it's about building character. Students are encouraged to embody the values of reverence, respect, and responsibility, both on and off the field5. The lessons learned—perseverance in the face of setbacks, celebrating the effort of others, and striving for improvement—extend far beyond the finish line.
A Community United
Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of the CISVA Track & Field Championships is the sense of community. Students, staff, and families from different schools come together, united by a shared love of sport and a commitment to supporting one another. The cheers from the stands, the encouragement between teammates, and the collective celebration of every participant’s effort create an atmosphere of positivity and belonging4.
Looking Forward
As the 2025 championships conclude, every student who participated can take pride in their journey. Whether they set a new personal record, tried a new event, or simply gave their best, they are all champions of effort and spirit. The friendships formed and the memories made will last long after the final race.
To all the athletes, coaches, volunteers, and families: thank you for making the CISVA Track & Field Championships a true celebration of what it means to strive, support, and succeed—together
