Professional Growth Opportunities

  • A teacher may move from one payscale category to another (excluding category 6) by taking 15 credits in an approved program of Catholic studies (eg,St Mark’s College THEO and 6 additional Credits). Any Teacher who completes the above and is already category 5 or 6 will receive an additional $2,000 per annum.

  • Any teacher who completes a master’s degree in an approved program related to Christian Education or the BC Curriculum will move to the next category on the scale after approval from CISVA Superintendent’s Office. If already at category 6, the teacher will receive an additional $2,000 per annum.

  • We offer many administration positions, from the school office to the Superintendents office.

  • Professional development days hosted by CISVA, such as the Catholic Educators’ Learning Days, provide teachers with targeted workshops and collaborative opportunities focused on current educational practices like assessment and reporting, directly enhancing their instructional skills and classroom effectiveness.

  • With 46 different schools you can move across the province and find fulfilling roles in each one of our schools.

  • Our Archbishop offers a scholarship program for teachers to continue their education and complete their masters and reach their next level of potential. This program is provided by St. Mark’s College.

The Archbishop's Scholarship at St. Mark's College

  • The Archbishop’s Scholarship for Leadership in Catholic education was created to foster the pursuit of Catholic higher education for educators within the CISVA. The Archbishop’s Scholarship will reimburse successful applicants their tuition fees upon completion of each of three designated Catholic Core courses:

    • Foundations of Theology (THEO 501)

    • Christian Morality (THEO 530)

    • Introduction to Scripture (SCRI 505)

    Working in partnership with St. Mark’s College, the Archdiocese and CISVA have organized these Catholic Core courses that are eligible for the Archbishop’s Scholarship.

    1. Open to all TRB-certified teachers from CISVA and Affiliated schools within the Archdiocese of Vancouver. The scholarship is also open to Education Assistants, Vice-Principals, and Principals.

    2. Successful applicants will have demonstrated leadership experience or show promise in the areas of religious education, faith development, campus ministry, or working as department heads, vice-principals and principals. St. Marks College handles all applications.

    3. Recipients of the Formation for Lay Ministry Scholarship are not eligible to apply for the Archbishop’s Scholarship for Leadership in Catholic Education.

    4. The Archbishop’s Scholarship applies only to designated courses Catholic Core courses offered through St. Mark’s College at the University of British Columbia. It provides for full tuition reimbursement for these courses upon successful completion (defined as attaining a course grade of 70% or better).  Scholarships are available for up to 3 courses.

    5. Applicants must be employed by a Catholic school within the Archdiocese of Vancouver and be under contract at the time of course engagement.
